At Black Label Landscape & Hardscape Contractors, we believe that improving a property is about more than completing a construction project. It's about understanding a client's vision, developing practical solutions, and creating something they can enjoy and take pride in for years to come.

 

Based in Tabernacle, New Jersey, Black Label is a veteran-owned, owner-operated company serving residential and commercial properties throughout South Jersey. Our work includes custom hardscaping, outdoor living spaces, landscaping, drainage and grading, masonry, property improvements, and commercial property maintenance.

What sets us apart is our approach. From the initial conversation to the final walkthrough, our clients work directly with the owner, who remains personally involved in every project.

Meet the Owner — Chad Mason

​

Black Label was founded by Chad Mason, a United States Marine Corps veteran whose experience combines hands-on construction, business ownership, technical design, and professional project management.

​

Chad's career in landscaping began in 1997, following his service in the Marine Corps. He founded MGM Landscaping and spent the next 12 years building and operating the company, gaining firsthand experience in landscape construction, property maintenance, managing crews, and serving customers.

 

He later transitioned into the corporate engineering and manufacturing industry, where he worked in project management and operations, coordinating complex projects and working with major national and international clients. That experience strengthened his approach to planning, organization, communication, problem-solving, and accountability.

But after years in the corporate world, Chad wanted to return to something he genuinely enjoyed: working outdoors, building projects with his own hands, and seeing the results of a job well done.

​

In November 2021, he founded Black Label Landscape & Hardscape Contractors, bringing together the practical knowledge gained from his first landscaping business and the project management experience developed throughout his professional career.

​​

His goal was to build a company where clients receive not only quality workmanship, but also the personal attention, communication, and accountability that can make all the difference during a project.

When you hire Black Label, you're working directly with Chad.

 

He personally handles customer consultations, estimates, project planning, construction oversight, and communication throughout the job. He is also actively involved in the field, working alongside the crew and making sure the project progresses according to plan.

​

Clients don't have to navigate multiple departments or wonder who is responsible when they have a question. They have a direct line of communication with the person overseeing their project.

 

On larger projects, Chad makes it a priority to spend time each day reviewing progress with the customer, discussing what has been accomplished, explaining the next steps, and addressing any questions or concerns.

 

And when unexpected challenges arise, he takes personal responsibility for finding a solution.

We believe communication shouldn't stop once a contract is signed. It should continue until the work is complete.

One of the most rewarding parts of our work is transforming an overlooked or underused area into a space that becomes a centerpiece of the property.

Not every customer knows exactly what they want when we first meet, and that's perfectly fine.

​

We begin by listening. How do you want to use the space? What problems are you trying to solve? What would make the finished project feel right for your home or property?

From there, we work together to explore possibilities.

 

Sometimes that means walking the property and outlining potential layouts with marking paint, flags, or even a garden hose. Other times, it means using drawings or digital design concepts to help clients visualize different options before construction begins.

​

We also consider the practical details that affect how a project will perform over time, including drainage, grading, materials, accessibility, and future maintenance. Our objective is to help each client make informed decisions and create a finished project that is both attractive and functional.
